Dr Tambini is Research Director of the LSE’s Department of Media and Communications, Chair of the Research Committee, Director of the Media Policy Project and programme director of the MSc in Media and Communications (Governance). From June 2002 to August 2006 Dr Tambini was Head of the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at Oxford University. Before that he was director of the IPPR Media Policy Project; Postdoctoral Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford; Lecturer, Humboldt University, Berlin; and researcher at the European University Institute, Florence, Italy.
His research interests include media and telecommunications policy and democratic communication. He is the author of many articles on media and communications regulation and policy, and author/editor of several books. He co-wrote Codifying Cyberspace, co-edited Cyberdemocracy and Citizenship, Markets, and the State. Other publications include Nationalism in Italian Politics; Collective Identities in Action: Theories of Ethnic Conflict; New News: Impartial Broadcasting in the Digital Age; and Privacy and the Media.
