Journalist Harriet Sergeant is the author of four books: Between the Lines: Conversations in South Africa, Shanghai: Collision Point of Cultures 1918-1939 and Japan, where she lived for seven years. Her latest book, Among the Hoods: My Years with a Teenage Gang, describes her friendship with a south London gang. She is a regular contributor to the national media, writing for newspapers such as the Daily Mail and the Sun, as well as being a Research Fellow of the Centre for Policy Studies, an independent think-tank, where she has written reports topics on topics including immigration, Management in the NHS , the police and the care system Harriet has written for numerous newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad, including the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail. She regularly appears on TV and radio including Any Questions and Question Time.
