Matt Kelly joined Archant in November 2015 as Chief Content Officer, responsible for content strategy and execution across all platforms and products. He joined Archant from UK regional newspaper group Local World where he was Group Digital Director. Most recently Matt and his team launched the pop-up newspaper, of which he is now Editor, titled ‘The New European” to target the 48% who voted against Brexit. Matt’s career began in local and regional press, as a reporter and sub-editor on the Formby Times and Liverpool Echo. Since then Matt has held a number of senior positions at The Daily Mirror, including Head of Features and Associate Editor. As Publisher and Director of Content of Mirror Group Digital, he led the development of Mirror Online and launched Mirror Football and showbiz site 3am. In addition, Matt was director of Barcelona-based consultancy Cases i Associats, leading the digital transformation of Argentina’ s market leading newspaper, Clarín. Matt is also Chairman of the Global Editor’s Network annual summit – an annual gathering of more than 500 publishers and editors-in-chief from across the world.
