Filmed at the Convention on Brexit & the Political Crash on May 12th, 2017
Why did the Prime Minister call the election? The simple answer is that she needs a bigger majority to complete negotiations on a Hard Brexit. But are more complicated forces at work that will enable the political establishment to take back control after the confusion that followed the EU Referendum? Does this expose a system that is no longer capable of expressing the real divisions and needs of the people of the United Kingdom? Would reform of the second chamber and a new electoral system – in which every vote counts – make people re-engage, or do we have to face the fact that chronic apathy is the real problem?
